ABOUT LSC

Celebrating over 75 year as a club, the Lindsay Skating Club was was created in 1947 and established in 1961. A long standing fixture in town, LSC has coached thousands of children and adults, from learning the basics to the advanced art of skating.
Over time LSC has expanded its programming and is pleased to offer Pre-CanSkate, CanSkate and multiple STARSkate programs from September to March, along with shorter programming in the spring, summer and fall. 

Our Mission Statement

"Our mission is to provide skating programs for everyone to participate in for fun, fitness, friendship and achievement of skating skills for figure skating, hockey or ringette. Our programs foster and promote skater development in a safe and positive environment."

Marg Hadley

StarSkate/CanSkate Coach

Marg has lived and coached in the area since 1972. Currently, she is a National certified coach. Her pupils have attained Gold Status in Skills, Freeskate, Dance and Interpretive. Former pupils have competed at Provincial level and at the National Challenge level as well. Her personal coaching philosophy is encourage her skaters 'to be the best you can be' while maintaining a positive approach to all that skating offers.

Arlene Matthews

StarSkate/CanSkate Coach

Arlene grew up in Uxbridge, Ontario, and has been coaching skating for over 41 years. She is a Provincial Certified-level coach and has her evaluator status for Gold Skills and Gold Artistic. She is currently working toward completing her Gold Freeskate evaluator credentials.

 

Arlene has had many skaters successfully pass Gold tests in all four disciplines and has had numerous skaters qualify for StarSkate Provincial Championships. She has also produced many ice shows for various skating clubs over the years.

 

As a skater, Arlene skated with the Uxbridge, Markham, and Stouffville skating clubs. When she is not at the arena, she enjoys sewing and gardening.

Emma Louden

StarSkate/CanSkate Coach

CanSkate Coordinator

A resident from just outside of Lindsay, Emma is a Certified Canskate Coach and Certified Regional Coach. A skater since the age of 4 at both the Lindsay Skating Club and Port Perry Skating Club, Emma competed in singles, pairs, dance and synchronized skating while completing Gold Skills, Silver Dances and Silver Freeskate.

Emily Jarman

StarSkate/CanSkate Coach

StarSkate Coordinator

Emily has been skating since the age of five. She is a Certified CanSkate Coach as well as a Certified Regional Coach. She has completed gold tests in dance, skills and artistic. Emily has also competed at the Skate Ontario provincials for freeskate and artistic as well as some competitions in New York state. Emily’s coaching philosophy is “to encourage skaters to be the best person they can be both on and off the ice in a fun, enjoyable and safe environment.”

Kathryn Jackson

StarSkate/CanSkate/PowerSkate Coach

Kathryn has spent most of her life on the ice, beginning her skating journey at just three years old. A Triple Gold skater and three-time Provincial qualifier, she brings her own competitive experience into her coaching while creating an environment that is positive, challenging, and fun.

 

As a Regional Certified Coach and PowerSkate Coach, Kathryn is passionate about helping skaters become stronger, more confident, and more efficient on the ice. She focuses on developing strong fundamentals, quality edges, body control, and power while helping each skater work toward their individual goals.

 

Outside of the rink, Kathryn is pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at Ontario Tech University. She also enjoys playing soccer and has a passion for photography.

Lexie Groff

CanSkate Coach in Training

​StarSkate Coach Regional in Training

Lexie began skating at the age of seven and has developed a strong passion for the sport over the past 10 years. She started her skating journey in Uxbridge and now proudly skates with the Lindsay Skating Club.

 

Lexie began her coaching career in 2025 and has loved every moment of working with young skaters. She is excited to share her knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm for skating while helping athletes grow both on and off the ice. Lexie looks forward to inspiring the next generation of skaters and creating a positive, encouraging environment for everyone she coaches.

Payton Moody

CanSkate Coach in Training

​StarSkate Coach Regional in Training

Payton has been skating with the Lindsay Skating Club for the past eight years. Before joining the club, Payton played hockey starting at the age of four. Currently, Payton is a CanSkate Coach-in-Training and hopes to become a StarSkate coach with the Lindsay Skating Club for many years to come. Payton has achieved her Gold Artistic test and is continuing to work toward completing her remaining Gold tests. Payton continues to compete for the Lindsay Skating Club in the Star 8 Long Program and Star 7 Short Program events.

Our Executive

As an incorporated non-profit, the LSC board meets on a monthly basis to support the club through all programming, organize events, fundraise and support community engagement within the membership.
